Ha Za Ba Ra La – a leading group theatre of West Bengal has been mounting dramatic Productions of extra-ordinary merit for the last five decades in Calcutta, in many major cities of India and extensively in rural Bengal. Being established in 1960 it has been seriously experimenting on various aspects of the form and subject of drama – since the very date of its establishment.

Ha Za Ba Ra La has been serving in theatre field since 1960. During this long period of time we have been relentlessly striving for good plays focusing particularly on the problem of alienation, erosion of social values and the queer life style of the tribal communities living particularly in some regions of our country.

Our members have been well trained and well equipped in all aspects of theatre such as stage preparation, light designing and projection, music, make up, etc. They have been trained in different workshops on theatre – where in addition to acting they have learnt to develop physical fitness, dance, preparation of different stage materials, etc.

Now Ha Za Ba Ra La is a theatre group of a good number of young force. Sri Chandan Sen, a member of ours is a playwright  and director who was honored with best award for play wright( two times) by Paschim Banga Natya Academy. He has also been honored with the Prestigious award “Dinabandhu Mitra” Award of the Govt. of West Bengal.

Another member Sri Subhas Maitra has been honored with the award for the best actor by the Paschim Banga Natya Academy.

SNA Awardee (Sangeet Natok Academy, Govt. of India)  Sri Deb Sankar Halder, Sri Gautam Halder often take part in our Theatrical Productions. We have been running a School “Ha Za Ba Ra La” School of Drama Since 2018. Young learners are thus getting the opportunity of training in theatre and thus to establish themselves in the field. Experts from different branches of theatre take classes in H.S.D.

Ha Za Ba Ra La has the privilege of having a Hall (Natyasala) of its own for conducting rehearsal and premier shows.
